Most programs can work with data on a remote computer through a sharepoint. Many programs can display on a remote terminal (X11). MacOS X has many operating environments: Darwin (or BSD) is command line only, X11 adds a standard but nonnative graphical display and which is capable of remote operation and Quartz is the native graphical environment. To access the MacOS X Darwin environment, launch Terminal or X11 first. To access the MacOS X X11 environment, launch X11 first. Note that when an application is stated as available only for one operating system (OS), it means that either it is not available for the other OSes or we have chosen not to install the other versions.
